Self Inflicted
Self Inflicted was founded by guitarist/vocalist Keith McCormick and guitarist Brian Unruh in October 2000. Drummer John Keese and bassist Chris Floyd joined shortly after that to complete the line up. The band recorded a 3 song demo and began playing around Oklahoma.
A year after Self Inflicted got started, Brian left the band. After several attempts to replace him, which included Ian Pospisil (who is on the Beyond the Agony of Never album) and Manifest Destiny’s Brent Wheatley, Self Inflicted choose to carry on as a three piece. In December 2004 drummer John Keese decided to leave the band to pursue other interests. He was replaced by friend, Danny Thompson. Soon after Danny joined, the band started toying with the idea of adding a second guitarist. After auditioning several guitar players, Neil Howell was asked, and joined Self Inflicted. For reasons still unknown to the band, Danny left Self Inflicted in June of 2006. Now without a drummer, Keith moved from guitar to drums. Self Inflicted played on as a three piece, yet again. Two months later, bassist Chris Floyd quit due to family obligations, so Keith and Neil asked long time friend Willo to fill in on bass to finish out some shows. With the shows over, Willo departed. Now a two piece, Keith and Neil headed into the studio to start work on the new CD. Not wanting to record the bass tracks themselves, they asked Manifest Destiny bassist Kieth Wiley to play bass. He agreed, one thing led to another and Kieth ended up become a full time member of Self Inflicted. Being very happy with the line up, Self Inflicted again agrees to remain a three piece.
Self Inflicted has released a three song demo in 2001, two self financed CDs: Punishment of Tomorrow, in 2002, and Beyond the Agony of Never, in 2004, and are working on the third. The band is also featured on the following compilation CDs: Nightfall Records’ Milwaukee Metalfest 17; Heavycore Records’ Core til Death 3; Cordial Records’ International Touring Compilation; Infinite Records’ Compilation Vol. 1 & 2; Camp Fury Records’ Base Camp 001; Loco Diablo Records’ Underground Compilation CD Vol. 9 & 10.
Self Inflicted continues to crush venue after venue as it attacks the regional metal scene. Supporting such national acts as Meshuggah (twice), Strapping Young Lad, Soilent Green, Goatwhore (6X), The Black Dahlia Murder, All That Remains, A Perfect Murder, Watch Them Die, Malevolent Creation, Mnemic, Deadbird, Dare Diablo, and Exhumed along the way. Self Inflicted has also played the famed Milwaukee Metalfest in 2003, the Midwest Monsters of Metal Showcase in 2004, as well as several benefit shows for local musicians and businesses.
